Search Console Now Reports AI Overviews Impressions

Google launched dedicated Search Console reports for impressions in generative AI features on June 3, 2026, giving you a direct view of how often your pages show up in AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Discover. The reports come from Hillel Maoz (Search Ecosystem Engineering Manager) and Moshe Samet (Product Manager Lead, Search Console).

What’s changing

There are two separate views. One covers Search, which includes AI Overviews and AI Mode, and one covers Discover. Each report breaks out impressions, the pages that earned them, countries, and dates. The Search view also splits by device. This is data you could not isolate before. It also stays part of the overall Performance report, so nothing is removed from your existing totals.

Why Google is doing it

As AI features take a bigger share of the results page, site owners have asked for a way to see their presence in them. These reports answer that by separating AI feature impressions from the rest of Search, so the contribution of AI Overviews and AI Mode is visible on its own rather than blended into one number. Full details are in the Search Central announcement.

What it means for you

If you have access, you can now measure how AI features surface your content and which pages and countries drive those impressions. If you don’t have access yet, wait for the rollout to reach you rather than reading anything into its absence. Either way, treat this as a measurement upgrade, not a new ranking signal: the underlying work is still publishing pages worth surfacing. Start with on-page SEO basics, and make sure the snippet Google can show is inside budget with the SERP snippet preview tool.

[ FAQ ]
What do the new Search Console AI reports show?
They break out impressions in generative AI features, plus pages, countries, dates, and devices (Search only). There are two views: one for Search, covering AI Overviews and AI Mode, and one for Discover.
Does this replace the existing Performance report?
No. The new reports are a dedicated breakout of AI feature impressions, but that data also stays counted inside the overall Performance report.
Why don't I see the AI reports in my account?
Google is rolling them out to a subset of websites at launch for testing. Not every site has access yet, so you may need to wait for wider availability.
